The existence of a numerical mental line whereor the different numbers are represented in the space from left to right, has been demonstrated in adults by numerous studies. The objective of this project is to study if this representation depends on the learning or if it is present from the youngest age. For this we study the ability of newborns, aged 1-3 days, to connect numbers to different spatial positions (horizontally, from left to right), in the same way as adults. Infants are presented with different auditory numbers (small and large numbers) simultaneously with visual figures in different spatial positions. We measure their time to see if from an early age humans have the intuition that numbers can be designed spatially from left to right.
